Chapters 9/10
Sadly this book needs more pictures, or something to spike my interest a little more, though it is informative. I suppose it is very logical to discuss the different types of ways to write stories, though I did not know you one was supposed to keep the reading and writing level to about someone in middle school. But in the end it makes sense, as the newspaper (though some may argue) is not for just the elderly retired in a rocking chair, or the mother and father reading it before work. This could help everyone to be able to read it more thoroughly. I think the narrative style is more for me. i like to make things interesting, that way people seem to be a little more into it. Facts upon facts is really not something that seems to be compiled into a story does not seem like a very interesting read to me. This could tie into the ways that most people view the story, and how it can relate to them. if something does not unterest me, or effect me in any way...then what is the point of writing the article, except to take up extra space?

"What good is..." essay 3
I found this essay very interesting, though my opinion may be very biased in some senses. i thought it was interesting how NPR was sort of just thrown out there as a great journalism source. The reason I say this may be biased is that I love the radio. i had a job where I could listen to music all day, which got very old; so I switched to the radio. After working 9 hour days listening to the radio, you really know what is happening around the world. the one thing that I am curious about is how other forms of media may feel about this, such as newspapers, the Internet, television, etc.
Now don't get me wrong, I am not sitting in a rocking chair, smoking a pipe and reading the paper when I wake up in the morning. I like to enjoy my coffee and watch the news in the morning. But for my long drives to visit parents and friends, an IPod just doesn't quite cut it. I feel that the radio could be, more or less "coming back" in regards to convenience. Though i only listen to KNX 1070, i think this chapter shed some light that i need to broaden my horizons just a little bit.

Chapter 7 and 8 reactions
Chapter 7 and 8 were a little bit...well lets go ahead and say slow. I thought that the section on the inverted pyramaid was very good, rather than the delayed identification. When I read things, I like it to be quick and to the point. i do not want to have to read something and figure out until almost all the way through until the end of the article what is going on. As far as chapter 8, seemed to focus a lot of making sure everything is correct in your artcile. Though this seems like a very self-explanatory topic, I am sure I have messed up quite a few thingsin our articles we have had to do. I guess making the story more interesting as you go on reading it is a good strategy, unless one is in a hurry to figure out what the issue is in the column.

Reaction on Chapter 4 in text book
It seems to me that remembering the rules for quotations could be one of the hardest things for me in regards to journalism. Another things is capturing dialect since it is so common in the way we speak today. Looks like i have a lot of studying to do with this and the AP Stylebook!
Reaction paper on Chapter 3 of text book
I really enjoyed the closed and opened-ended questions. It seems to be a very good way to let the interviewee talk about everything they wish to discuss. Another interesting point is to be able to actually have a set time, date and time spread. Though they seem like simple things, I am positive I would forget things like this in regared to scheduling an interview.

Summer 2009
Alright, so I guess we are supposed to talk about something significant that happened to us in the summer. So here it goes. And this may not even be the correct way to "blog". I am clueless in regards to computers, so bare with me.
So one day one of my roommates decided he wanted to get my assistance to try surfing. Easy enough I thought, and it could be pretty fun to watch. We went and got some good food and cold drinks before we trudged off to the water. I took my two roommates to sunset cliffs, which was a moron move on my part for those of you who know the area. We got into the water, paddled out and messed around for a little while. We sat around in the water, and out of the corner of my eye, I saw a dark figure emerge in the water. My two roommates saw it as well, and sure enough it was a decent 5-7 feet of shark! Needless to say they are my favorite animals, so I tried to play it cool. My roommate paddled as fast as he could. All in all, we laughed about it later. Good times.
